Australia’s Long Stay Visa (formally known as Visitor Visa – Subclass 600) is intended as a temporary visa for longer periods of stay in Australia.
While applying, you will be able to choose between 3, 6 and 12 months validity periods, which you can also use to extend your stay in Australia if you are currently in the country on another visa that will soon expire.
While filling the form, you will need to choose between several options:
Tourism visitor visa: Select this type of visa in the application form if you are travelling to Australia for holiday or for visiting family and friends. You will also be allowed to study up to 3 months.
Business visitor visa: Select this option in the application form if you are travelling to Australia for a business trip. You will be allowed to do general business or employment enquiries, negotiations or participate in conferences. However, you are not allowed to work for or provide services to businesses or organisations in Australia. You are also not allowed to sell goods or services to the Australian public.
Sponsored family visa: Select this type of visa in the application form if you travel to Australia to visit family and have a sponsor. Your sponsor might then be asked to provide a bond.
Visa extension: If you are currently in Australia on a visa that is going to expire, you can apply for a long stay Visitor Visa to extend your stay. This is only possible if you do not have an 8503 “No further stay” condition on your current visa.
Long term visas cost 395 USD each. If you are inside Australia when you apply, there will be an additional charge of 150 EUR per person. You can apply for several persons at the same time.
