Please use this application form to apply for a student visa to Australia.

You need to be admitted to a university or school before you can apply for a student visa to Australia from UK. If you do not have a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), please contact the school or university where you intend to study.

The form will present the following student visa options

  • Higher education
    • Applies to a bachelor degree, associate degree, graduate certificate, graduate diploma, higher education diploma, higher education advanced diploma or masters by coursework.
  • Postgraduate research
    • Applies to Masters by research or a doctoral degree.
  • English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS)
    • For stand-alone courses that lead to a certificate I, II, III or IV, or that result in no formal award.
  • Primary or secondary school course
    • For primary, junior secondary or senior secondary school courses, as well as approved secondary school exchange programs.
  • Vocational education and training (VET)
    • This subclass is for Certificates I, II, III or IV (except ELICOS), VET diploma, VET advanced diploma, vocational graduate certificate or vocational graduate diploma courses.
  • Non-award
    • Applies to non-award foundation studies, or other full-time courses or components of courses not leading to an Australian award.
  • AusAID and Defence
    • Applies to students sponsored by AusAID or the Australian Department of Defence undertaking full-time courses of any type.
  • Student Guardians
    • Parents or relatives can apply for a visa to stay in Australia as the guardian of a student who is studying in Australia.

Visa applicants are encouraged to be immunised against infectious diseases before travelling to Australia. Visa applicants who are unable to arrange their immunisation before departure from their home country are encouraged to seek advice on arrival in Australia. The Australian state and territory health authorities assist people to obtain general medical help and advice, including immunisation. Parents are strongly encouraged to have their children immunised against hepatitis B, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), poliomyelitis, haemophilus influenzae type-b (Hib), pneumococcal and meningococcal infections, mumps, measles, rubella and varicella (chickenpox). Babies between the ages of 2 and 8 months of age (only) are also encouraged to be immunised against rotavirus.

Parents should bring any immunisation records for their children with them to Australia.

Rubella vaccinations are strongly encouraged for women of child-bearing age.

If you wish to study in Australia, you must be of good character. The following questions ask details of your character. If your circumstances change before you travel you should inform the Australian Government office overseas. If you are receiving assistance in completing this form, you must ensure you personally answer these questions, and that the answers are faithfully transcribed to this form.
